Pago del Vicario vineyard is located 600 meters above sea level, on the banks of the Guadiana River. It covers an area of 130 hectares of vineyards enabling the harvest of all our grape varieties, the basis of which are the native grapes of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano along with the red varietals Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot as well as with the white ones Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
It has an undulating orography, with decreasing slopes towards the river. Its proximity to the water course provides an exceptional microclimate with mild temperatures and a great thermal contrast between day and night, which favours the synthesis of aromas at the time of grape ripening.
The very heterogeneous soils in terms of texture and composition range from francoarenosos (sandy loam) and francolimosos (silty loam soils) to areas where quartzites alternating with slates predominate. This fact contributes to the achievement of a great wealth of nuances, since the 29 parcels in which the Pago has been divided adjust to the properties of each type of soil. The management is individualized for each plot, according to the type of wine to be elaborated.
The most avant-garde techniques of the world of viticulture are being used, such as dendrometry or remote sensing, which make Pago del Vicario “EL PAGO DEL SIGLO XXI”.
